Astrid's brother, Olav Tryggvason, 968-1000, great grandson of Harald Fair-Hair, was a very famous Norwegian King. He grew up in Russia, took part in several viking-raids. Claimed twice tributes, "Dane-debt" from the English king. Was baptized in 995 and then came to Norway and made King in Trøndelag. He brought Christianity to parts of his kingdom, but met resistance in Trøndelag and Hålogaland. Olaf also had dangerous enemies abroad. The Danish king, who claimed Norway, the Swedish king, who wanted to rule Ranrike, and Earl Håkon's sons. Olav sought alliance with the vener-king Boleslav (Burisleiv of the sagas), who in the 990's had conquered the countries south of the Baltic sea. But in the battle at sea near Svolder, Olav was defeated and died.
